FAQ's

I am confused, what is a nursing bracelet?

Thanks for asking, we often get this question! Find out how it work here!

How do I care for my bracelet?

Avoid spraying chemicals, and/or perfumes and wait till lotions are dry before wearing your bracelet. We recommend taking the bracelet off while swimming or while doing an activity that may cause your bracelet to snag or get scratched. Centrepieces can be cleaned by wiping with a cotton ball gently or using a bit of soapy water. For sterling silver and gold plated centrepieces it is good to get a polishing cloth to avoid tarnish over time. Avoid using any cleaning chemicals and check out our questions below for more information on tarnish. Regularly check that the knot is secure to avoid it loosening over time.

How do I tie my bracelet?

We recommend using a surgeon knot to tie your bracelet of you choose the tie-on option. Before tightening your bracelet make sure it fits snugly but with enough stretch to pull on and off your wrist. Your bracelet will loosen over time due to the natural tightening of the knot due to pulling it on and off your wrist. The knot should be secured tightly so it is not easily undone.

The knot and band may stretch over time so tying a bit tighter a the beginning is helpful.

* For those who ordered the slip knot version, the bracelet will come pre-tied. You will have the ability to tighten or loosen your bracelet as needed using the slip knot.

Anything else I should know about my bracelet?

It is important for you to know that all of our centerpieces are subject to bending or breaking if not treated gently. Since you may be swapping your bracelet from wrist to wrist it is important for you to take extra care while doing so to ensure you do not misshape or bend your link.

All our bracelets do not come with a clasp. Why? After much testing, we felt that a simple knot and small beads at the end helped eliminate the possibilities of scratching your baby's head like many other bulky clasps and bracelets do. Since you may be wearing it regularly and possibly for the use of nursing we wanted to provide a softer option to help keep your littles as comfortable as possible, without having to remove the bracelet.

Due to the size of our cord, just like hair elastics, over time this material will stretch out. The slip knot version is less susceptible to stretching as you can tighten and loosen to swap from wrist to wrist as needed.

Light cords are also bound to change colour over time due to natural oils in your skin.

Mint and Birch collaboration bracelets are all hand stamped and have the potential of varying in design slightly.

These bracelets are absolutely not intended for child use, and should not be given to a child under 5. This is also not a teething bracelet of any sort.

Will my bracelet tarnish or change the colour of my skin? And what can I do about it?

Our 14K gold-filled jewellery is tarnish resistant and non-allergenic, so you do not need to worry about it changing your skin colour or flaking off. However, 2-3% of people have a skin chemistry that causes sterling silver and gold-plated jewellery to change their skin colour, and naturally, these metals will tarnish over time. You can check out the information provided above to help minimize these effects.

Since sterling silver + gold-plated and silver-plated jewellery will tarnish over time, storing your jewellery in an airtight location when not wearing it, and cleaning it with baking soda and lemon juice will help restore and/or avoid tarnishing and weakening over time. Wearing your jewellery often will also help keep its shine, thanks to the oils in your skin. Polishing pads are also an option for cleaning.

Brass bracelets will also tarnish and oxidize over time. Use your polishing cloth included in your purchase or ketchup to restore its shine.

I ordered a light cord colour, how can I clean it?

For dirt and other non-stains use dish soap, baking soda and hot water. Hand wash your cord then let it soak for 15 minutes. Lay out to dry.
